Citizen Kane, dominated the 93rd Academy Award nominations Monday morning, earning 10 nods including best picture. But the front-runner field was quite crowded right behind it, as several films earned six nominations each, including: Nomadland, starring Frances McDormand as a woman travelling the American West looking for work after the Great Recession; Minari, director-writer Lee Isaac Chung s semi-autobiographical story of a Korean American family that moves from California to rural Arkansas in the 1980s; and Judas and the Black Messiah, the biopic of Fred Hampton, the Black Panther leader killed after a man infiltrated the group as an FBI informant.
