Annually since 1995 The Concerned Black Men of Calvert County Inc. has provided scholarships to a graduating senior from each Calvert County high school. This year, 2020, has been a very challenging year, especially considering the impact of the COVID-19 public health emergency.
In lieu of the annual âGala by the Bayâ scholarship fundraising event, CBMCC coordinated a âNo-Show Banquetâ to raise the necessary funds to award a $1,000 scholarship to our 2020 CBMCC scholarship recipients.
Awardees are as follows:
⢠Brianna Nelson, Patuxent High School, attending Bowie State University in the fall;
⢠Justin Evans, Northern High School, attending Towson University in the fall; and
Medical loan closet offered
The Aging & Senior Programs Division maintains a medical equipment loan closet to facilitate temporary provision of durable medical equipment to qualified persons. Supplies consist of walkers, canes, bath/shower benches and wheelchairs, but are limited. Donations accepted. Call 1-855-843-9725.
COVID drive-thru testing offered
Drive-through COVID-19 testing will be held 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays at Regency Stadium, 11765 St Linus Drive in Waldorf. Appointments are required. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 301-609-6717 or go to www.covidtest.maryland.gov.
