The North Atlantic Conference decided in November to push their winter sports season start date to January, yesterday the Presidents of the conference schools opted to cancel the basketball season this winter.
UMaine’s Blanca Millan averaged 22 and a half points while shooting better than 50% and grabbing 9 and a half rebounds a game in the Bears two wins against NJIT this past weekend – and that is enough for her to be named the America East Player of the Week.

The UMaine women’s basketball team finished off the weekend sweep of NJIT inside the Pit in Orono yesterday with a 74-51 win to improve to 8-and-1, 5-and-1 in America East.
The UMaine Men’s basketball team managed a weekend split with NJIT by winning in Newark, New Jersey yesterday 45-41.
There was supposed to be a vote this week by the NCAA about the Name, Image, and Likeness proposal to allow student-athletes to profit from playing college sports and the notability that comes with it, but it appears that vote is on hold for now.
An exciting weekend of NFL football with six wild-card games finished as a winning week for most sportsbooks, mostly due to the Cleveland Browns’ 48-37 upset win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. Underdogs went 4-2 against the spread and overs were 4-2.
The Steelers-Browns game was the most-bet game of the weekend at PointsBet, and 69% of the bets and 82% of the spread handle was on Pittsburgh. The Steelers had more than 80% of the money at several other sportsbooks as well, although one bettor at BetMGM was victorious on the largest wager of the day: A $500,000 bet on the Browns + 5.5. The Browns’ upset win was massive for sportsbooks, knocking out every moneyline parlay and teaser with the Steelers in it as well as ones tied into tomorrow s College Football National Championship Game.
