Guwahati: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that Assam has created a history by appointing 29,701 teachers in a single day.
It may be noted that in the biggest ever appointment letter distribution event in a single day, 16484 teachers were given appointment for provincializing their schools and 13, 217 TET teachers also got appointment by virtue of their merits. With this appointment, shortage of teachers in the educational institutions would be addressed to a great extent.

GUWAHATI: The State Education Department is set to script a record in teachers appointment on February 5, 2021 when 29,701 teachers will be given appointment letters.
This is going to surpass the earlier appointment record of 25,000 TET (Teachers Eligibility Test)-qualified teachers on a single day in 2012-13. Making this public, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, Of the 29,701 teachers to be given appointment letters on February 5, as many as 13,217 will be fresh appointments and 16,484 others will get their posts provincialized.

Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi on Wednesday gave his assent to The Assam Repealing Act, 2020, paving the way for the conversion of State-run madrasas to general schools. The Bill for this conversion was passed in the 126-member Assam Assembly on December 30, 2020.
State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the Governor’s assent to the Act. “All government madrasas will run as general institutions as the Madrassa Education Provincialisation Act, 1995, and Assam Madrassa Education Act, 2018 now stand repealed,” he said.

Guwahati: Along with the entire nation, Assam too celebrated the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
A day-long programme has been organised in Guwahati by the 125th Birth Anniversary Celebration Committee at Digholipukhuri area of Guwahati.
The celebrations began early in the morning. A procession was taken out followed by conferences and other events from Paltan Bazar area to Digholipukhuri area of Guwahati. Students from several schools of Guwahati, the Democratic Students Organization (DSO), and the Democratic Youth Organization (DYO) took part in the procession.
