National April 5, 2021 LAHORE: Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar has said minorities in Pakistan have full liberty whereas India has become the slaughterhouse for minorities where RSS terrorists are targetting all minorities including Muslims, adding that the countries where minorities are not safe cannot prosper. He said this while addressing an event on Easter organised by the Minority Advisory Council Punjab at Governor House here on Sunday and was talking to the media. Minister for Minority Affairs Ejaz Alam and others were also present. Governor Ch Sarwar extended best wishes to Christian community on Easter and said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the PTI government stands with the minorities and all-out efforts are being made to ensure the provision of rights to minorities in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Ex-Fata students end protest after talk with governor

National April 5, 2021 LAHORE: A number of ex-Fata students who had been staging a protest sit-in outside Governor House for the last 16 days demanding restoration of scholarships at Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) called off their sit-in after successful negotiation with Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar and Deputy Chairman Senate Mirza Muhammad Afridi on Sunday. Meanwhile, Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar, who is also chancellor of public sector universities of the province, announced scholarships for 1,000 students annually including 200 girls from Fata, and also announced setting up Punjab University sub-campus in Fata and Government College University, Lahore sub-campus in Gilgit. Students of Islamia University Bahawalpur belonging to ex-Fata held talks with Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar at Governor House Lahore on Sunday regarding their demands. Deputy Chairman Senate Mirza Muhammad Afridi, MPA from FATA Naseer Ahmed were present on the occasion.

Governor for effective policy to increase cotton production Lahore April 4, 2021 LAHORE : The Agricultural Committee headed by Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar has recommended increasing per 40kg price of cotton to Rs 5,000 and providing direct subsidy to cotton farmers. Chairman CPEC Authority Asim Saleem Bajwa, Minister for Agriculture Syed Hasnain Jahanian Gardezi and others participated in the meeting of the committee held at Governor House here on Saturday. The meeting chaired discussed the problems faced by cotton farmers and their solutions including providing relief to the farmers. Federal Minister for National Food and Research Syed Fakhr Imam joined the meeting via video link. Addressing the meeting, Governor Ch Muhammad Sarwar said that an effective policy and integrated strategy is needed to increase cotton production.
