The North Central Forum (NCF) has said a former governor of Nasarawa state, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, is the best candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) national chairmanship.
The APC will elect its next national chairman and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the end of the Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee in June this year.
This, it is argued, is part of the party’s effort to prove as wrong the impression that President Muhammadu Buhari’s exit at the expiration of his tenure in 2023, would lead to the collapse of the APC.
Some APC bigwigs had predicted during the reign of Adams Oshiomhole, as the party’s national chairman, that the party would cease to enjoy federal power after President Buhari’s tenure.
However, with Oshiomhole’s abrupt exit from the APC headquarters following the dissolution of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in June 2020, the strength of the party, its modus operandi and agenda for 2023 have changed.

A former governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Rep Aminu Sani Jaji, has refuted claims that a former governor of the state, Abdulaziz Yari, gave the Senator Kabiru Marafa-led defunct faction of the party N100 million to collapse its structure into the mainstream APC in the state.
Jaji, a former chairman, House Committee on Internal Security who was a key player in the Marafa faction, told newsmen yesterday in Abuja that the claim was a campaign of calumny aimed at de-marketing APC in the state ahead of the 2023 elections.
