Appointments are scheduled at the Indiana State Department of Health at https://www.coronavirus.in.gov/vaccine/index.htm.
WHEN: Wednesday-Saturday, open at 1 p.m.
The Clay County Health Departments COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds is planning on remaining open despite the current wintry blast, officials said Monday.
However, if the snowstorm causes travel hazards that people are urged to stay home, health officials have checked what would happen to appointments scheduled for this week.
Clay County Health Nurse Kim Hyatt and Emergency Planning Coordinator Tom Champion checked with the Indiana State Department of Health Saturday.

Although the winter storm front causing concern for the National Weather Service and local residents has not arrived yet, Clay County officials are preparing for potentially heavy snow expected to come overnight.
Clay County Emergency Management Director Rob Gambill works with local officials regarding the impending weather that could create snowfall ranging from a couple of inches to double digits. There are several versions of the forecast models, but we are taking it seriously just in case, said Gambill

As of noon Monday, January 18, 2021, the Indiana State Department of Health continues to show Clay County in the RED category on the Dashboards Color Code System. The countys COVID-19 data shows a drop to 26.5% 7-Day Unique Positivity Rate among the unique people tested those not previously tested - during Jan. 5-11, 2020. The data has been increasing for about a week but now shows a slight drop, while the overall 7-Day Positivity rating of 20.9%.
A county must remain at a lower Weekly Two-Metric Score for two consecutive weeks to move down to a lower advisory level. (The ISDH COVID-19 CURRENT Data Report is updated daily at noon. However, it regularly uses data 24-48 hours old to help ensure the reports accuracy.)

Local health officials confirmed Monday the COVID-19 vaccine would be available by appointment only through a clinic set up at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds Wednesday through Saturday, starting this week.
Clay County Health Nurse Kim Hyatt said only individuals with confirmed appointments through the Indiana State Department of Health are eligible to participate in the clinic.
