Hundreds of vaccines appointments canceled, rescheduled due to storm

Hundreds of vaccines appointments canceled, rescheduled due to storm News 12 Staff Updated on:Feb 18, 2021, 10:32pm EST Hundreds of vaccination appointments in the Hudson Valley have been canceled and rescheduled because of the wintry weather sweeping the country. Those who have appointments scheduled for a vaccine Friday at the Westchester County Center are still on the calendar as planned. However, many county-run vaccination sites in the Hudson Valley will be closed because of the storm, and on top of that, the wicked weather nationwide is now causing delays in shipments of vaccines. The Rockland and Putnam County executives tell News 12 that they don t know when the rerouted shipments of vaccine will arrive.

Letter: Vaccine Politics | The Highlands Current

January 29, 2021 I am disgusted by the politicization of the vaccine distributions in Putnam County. A news release issued on Jan. 19 by County Executive MaryEllen Odell regarding a COVID-19 vaccination site at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Cold Spring was an embarrassment to herself and the county. Instead of focusing on the successes of the county Health Department and Drug World of Cold Spring and the challenges ahead, Odell spends four paragraphs fluffing her candidates and political allies, namely Vinny Tamagna, the county transportation manager and former Republican legislator; Kevin McConville, the chair of the Philipstown Republican Committee and aspiring candidate for county sheriff, who “volunteered his expertise”; Republican state Sen. Sue Serino, who “visited to offer her support”; and Republican Legislator Neal Sullivan, who “stopped by.”

Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell praised the county health department for establishing COVID-19 vaccine distribution sites, and called for the public s patience as we await more vaccine supply

Next Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell praised the county health department for establishing COVID-19 vaccine distribution sites, and called for the public’s patience as we await more vaccine supply. The Putnam County Department of Health administered 307 vaccines to seniors 75 and older and essential workers on Thursday at the Philipstown Recreation Center. That follows two successful vaccine points of dispensing, or PODS, at the Carmel Friendship Center, which vaccinated 611 people. “Thursday’s venue was ideal, it means the health department now has a location in Philipstown and another in Carmel to administer the vaccine,” said County Executive Odell. “I even heard seniors remark how nice it was to see friends who they hadn’t seen since the Office of Senior Resources programs were paused early last year.”
