A Lancaster city woman is calling attention to the alarming trend by organizing a rally and vigil to support the local Asian American and Pacific Islander community.
âAsians only make up about 2% of the current demographic in Lancaster (County),â said Julia Cao, who is Vietnamese. âBeing Asian is the very broad sense of who we are. We need someone to give us that opportunity, that voice. And this is one way of doing it.â
The rally and candlelight vigil will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday at Penn Square in downtown Lancaster.

Lancaster County District Attorney Heather Adams on Friday announced her ruling that a West Hempfield Township police officer was justified in discharging his firearm during an incident involving a barricaded gunman in January.
While the officer s shot did not strike the gunman, Adams office reviews all police-involved shootings whether the target was struck or not, Adams said.

AN 18-year-old Amish girl was strangled and stabbed to death before being wrapped in tarp and dumped in a shallow grave.
The cause of Linda Stoltzfoos’ death was asphyxia from strangulation, along with suffocation, according to Lancaster County coroner Dr Stephen Diamantoni after an autopsy was carried out.
