Fred Heidmann’s case stems from an Aug. 29, 2020, incident where police were conducting a traffic stop of a third party along Highway 371 south of Nisswa as part of the Toward Zero Deaths program. Heidmann was the mayor during this time.

An Ideal Township family is celebrating after a Crow Wing County District Court judge overturned a decision to allow a cartway on their property.
“The house erupted in a roar of excitement and we gathered together in a huge family circle hug and rejoiced,” Allison Royce wrote in an email to the Dispatch this week.
Judge dismisses police officer’s defamation suit against city of Crosby

A defamation lawsuit filed by former Crosby Police Officer Jesse Smith against the city of Crosby and the police department s top two ranking officers was dismissed in its entirety.
Ninth Judicial Judge Erik J. Askegaard submitted his ruling on the case Wednesday, April 28, in Crow Wing County District Court in Brainerd. The case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be brought back to court.
Charges: Brainerd man busted through business window, assaulted officers and delivery driver
Investigation states man punched pizza delivery driver and a woman before breaking into the bond business and while getting booked into the jail, he also punched a correctional officer.
