MOULTRIE, Ga. â Local officials are reaching out to those at the state level in hopes of expanding the groups eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.
During a ZOOM meeting with community leaders Thursday morning, Colquitt Regional Medical Center President and CEO Jim Matney said reaching agricultural workers soon will be critical.
Matney said the arrival of migrant farm workers last spring heralded a spike in the number of local cases, and with planting season just around the corner the scene is set for a repeat this year.
Seasonal farm workers are essential to the operation of many Colquitt County farms, and together the countyâs agricultural producers represent the largest single element of the local economy. MOULTRIE, Ga. â On February 10, 2021, Shirley Margaret Tucker Asbell passed away at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. She was known throughout Colquitt County as a loving mother, avid church goer and the county clerk of Superior Court for many years.Â
She is survived by her children Vickie Birchfield and Patti Walters as well as Asbellâs grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Â
Birchfield lamented, âShe was loving, supportive, and just loves the Lord with all her heart.âÂ
