Congressman Kelly Armstrong, R-ND, has signed onto a letter urging President-Elect Joe Biden to request House Speaker Nancy Pelosi drop efforts to impeach President Donald Trump.
The letter was signed by seven Congress members who had issued a statement Jan. 4 opposing objections to certifying the Electoral College vote, saying the Constitution doesn’t give Congress the authority or discretion to disqualify electors.
“Nor does the Constitution envision impeaching a President without an adequate investigation and congressional hearings. A presidential impeachment should not occur in the heat of the moment, but rather after great deliberation,” the letter stated.
The Congress members asked Biden to help end impeachment efforts “in a spirit of healing and fidelity to our Constitution.”
