(WSIL) In a wide-ranging 15 minute interview with News 3 WSIL, Congressman Mike Bost shared a wide range of concerns about what s happening in our nation s capitol and in the state of Illinois.
He says democrats in Illinois, including Governor JB Pritzker, need to be more transparent as they work to re-shape legislative districts over the next decade.
Bost believes a surprising source may reemerge during the process. I believe Mike Madigan will have a lot input into that. Even since he s not there anymore. Because of his experience and because even though he may not be in those places of position the people will still ask him because of the amount of time he spent building maps that hold the democratic majority, Bost said.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State representatives passed many bills with bipartisan support Thursday, but Republican members blasted Democratic leadership for not calling their bills for votes.
While Democrats have a supermajority in the chamber, House Republican Leader Jim Durkin said Democrats had a six to one ratio for bills called Thursday night. He stressed that Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch called for a “new day in Springfield” after taking over Mike Madigan’s throne, although he hasn’t seen it.
“I see a trend occurring,” Durkin said. “Yesterday’s tally was 45 Democrat bills call, two Republican. So, our freshman on the other side of the aisle who campaigned on these great hopes of bringing a new bipartisan approach to the legislative process, you’re now part of it.”

CAHOKIA, Ill. (WJPF) Congressman Mike Bost (R-Murphysboro) has introduced legislation to establish national park status for the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site.
The designation would include mounds in Madison, St. Clair, and Monroe counties, as well as the Sugarloaf Mound in St. Louis.
Currently, the site looked after by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. In 2018, IDNR announced support for national park status, and in May 2019, the Illinois House of Representatives backed a resolution supporting this status as well.
Bost says the park would be jointly managed between the national park service and local stakeholders.
