25 per cent rise in plaints from women during Covid pandemic: NCW latest report

Express News Service NEW DELHI: The Covid-19 pandemic seems to be proving difficult particularly for women in India as the latest report by the National Commission for Women (NCW), confirming the early indications, shows that it recorded over 25 per cent complaints by aggrieved women as compared to the previous year. In 2020-21, the commission received 26,513 complaints from women, marking a sharp rise from the 20,309 complaints registered in 2019-20, which means an increase of 25.09 per cent in the complaints, a recently compiled report by the NCW shows. The maximum number of complaints received by the NCW was registered as a violation of the right to live with dignity and in 2020-21 8,688 women approached the Commission saying that this right was violated.
