They also dismissed any free speech concerns conservatives with Twitter and Amazon as nothing more than a bunch of “racists” on Twitter. On
Late Night, angry Democrat Seth Meyers derided conservatives who noticed a precipitous drop-off in followers as sociopathic and caring more about Twitter than the deadly riot:
What the [ bleep ] Is wrong with you people? A violent mob of seditionists stormed the Capitol in an attempt to overthrow democracy people died and you’re whining about losing followers on Twitter. [Mocking tone] “They also took away all my gold bars on Candy Crush.” You know how hard it is to beat the Jelly Queen and Cupcake Carl? thanks a lot big tech.”
Broadcast networks plan to continue coverage into primetime Wednesday.
The storming of the U.S. Capitol by a mob of Trump supporters on Wednesday resulted in nonstop coverage across TV news outlets.
Network and cable news divisions were covering the beginning of the Electoral College certification in Congress which a number of members said they would challenge, citing baseless claims of fraud pivoted to coverage of the riots after people breached the perimeter of the Capitol.
ABC, CBS and NBC devoted most of the day to ongoing coverage of the chaos and planned to continue into primetime. ABC will devote all of primetime to news coverage, while plans at CBS and NBC were still in flux at publication time. The cable news channels have likewise been covering the story all day and will continue into the evening.
