A former Northeastern University track and field coach, who worked at various other higher education schools, was arrested Wednesday over accusations he cyberstalked female student-athletes and schemed to try to get them to send him nude photographs, according to authorities.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, 28-year-old Steve Waithe was employed as a track and field coach at the Boston school from October 2018 to February 2019. During that time, authorities say, Waithe frequently requested to use female athletes’ cellphones under the pretense of filming their form at practice and at meets. At times, he is accused of being seen “scrolling through” their phones.
