UN in Ghana Calls for Safe Environment for Media Workers in Ghana

Share The UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Charles Abani made this call at a flag raising ceremony to climax world press freedom celebration in Ghana, organized by the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and UNESCO Accra office. In his address to the gathering, he noted that “the UN plan of Action on the Safety of Journalists aims to create a safe environment for media workers across the globe because information is a public good. Affail Monney sued for illegal stay in office as GJA President

The plaintiff, Ms Caroline Boateng of the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), who is a paid up member of the GJA filed the writ at the Accra High Court on Friday, May 7, 2021. She is also the Graphic Chapter Chairperson of the GJA. According to the plaintiff, Affail Monney’s administration ended on November 17, 2020 and therefore she wants the Accra High Court to “declare that all actions of the defendants from 17
