The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is working to secure a bargaining certificate to push for better conditions of service and decent remuneration for journalists, the President of the GJA, Mr Affail Monney, has hinted.
He said the association had already secured a union certificate which offered it the legal power to serve as an intermediary between its members and their employers. He said plans were afoot to obtain a bargaining certificate, and that in the absence of a bargaining certificate, the GJA could only intervene but could not dictate how much journalists should be paid at the end of the month.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), for Koans Estate Prof. Kofi Anokye, has disclosed exclusively to Rainbowradioonline.com that the deal between the company and the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) for the construction of affordable houses for journalists at Pampaso, near Nsawam in the Eastern Region, is off the table.
The CEO explained that the decision to cancel the project was due to the inability of the GJA to finance the project.
He said the company could not get the numbers for the project.
According to him, the GJA was interested in the project but their inability to finance it was a major setback.

The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr. Affail Monney has advised journalists to blacklist persons spreading false information about the (Covid-19).
He said efforts must be made to stop such persons whose intention is to discourage others from taking the jab.
In the midst of the ongoing fight against the global pandemic, government in the past month secured vaccines through the World Health Organisation (WHO) to have the most vulnerable people vaccinated for the start.
