Brentwood School District reports 15 COVID-19 cases among staff and students

BRENTWOOD, Calif - Just days after welcoming students back to classrooms, the Brentwood Union School District reported 15 cases of COVID-19 among students and staff at the district s 11 schools, on Monday morning. This does not mean that students and staff contracted COVID at school, district superintendent Dana Eaton said. We do not currently have any cases where contact tracing has shown that anyone has contracted COVID at school from a positive individual.
Eaton said the Contra Costa Health Department told the district it should expect positive cases.

(Reuters) - About 600 gallons of petroleum and water mixture that leaked from Chevron Corp s wharf at its Richmond, California, oil refinery has been contained on Tuesday, according to the regional air pollution regulator s official twitter bit.ly/3jygjTb account.
The investigation is ongoing, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) said in a tweet.
Chevron in an emailed response said a sheen was observed at around 3 p.m. (2300 GMT) on the water near the wharf at its 245,271 barrel-per-day Richmond refinery. The release was stopped, while clean up was ongoing, it added.
“We have issued a community notice and ask the public to remain clear of the area so crews can quickly contain and clean up the released volumes,” the company said, adding it is working with the U.S. Coast Guard and the Office of Spill Prevention and Response (OSPR).

An oil spill at the Chevron Richmond Refinery that was leaking into San Francisco Bay was stopped late Tuesday afternoon, and the cleanup is underway, the energy company said in a statement.
Chevron first noticed the sheen on the water near the refinery at 3 p.m., and approximately 600 gallons of a petroleum and water mixture seeped into the bay before the leak was stopped.
