KINCARDINE, ONT. Work is already underway to bring the Kincardine Hospital its first ever CT scanner. “We’re very excited to be installing a new CT scanner at the Kincardine site of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre. We’re moving forward with the installation, sometime this fall,” says South Bruce Grey Health Centre CEO Michael Barrett. But not everybody is happy with the CT scanner the hospital board has chosen. It has decided to install the Siemens Edge Plus, cheaper and newer - not the Siemens Drive, more expensive, but considered superior by many. “The community wants the best for us. We’re a growing a community. We can support it. We’re great with community fundraising, so there’s no reason we shouldn’t have it,” says Judi Brown, a long-time Kincardine resident.

It’s going to be a while before the Chesley Hospital Emergency Department is back to a 24-hour operation.
The Chesley ER is open from 8am to 8pm and closed from 8pm to 8am a situation they were forced into in 2019 because of lack of personnel.
The President & CEO of South Bruce Grey Health Centre Michael Barrett says the department will not revert to a 24-hour operation until they have enough nurses to cover the night shifting.
Barrett says they need between 1-2 registered nurses and between 1-2 registered practical nurses before opening the doors at night.

The head of South Bruce Grey Health Centre says the organization is continuing efforts to address a nursing shortage at its Chesley site that prompted it to suspend overnight service in the hospital’s emergency department nearly 18 months ago.
“Our goal and our board’s goal is to reopen the Chesley emergency department to 24/7 service. And our board of directors actually has this on their board agenda every single meeting to ensure that we continue to focus on getting the emergency department to that service again,” president and CEO Michael Barrett said Wednesday in an interview.
