Carilion will transition its visitation restrictions from the yellow level, which only allowed adult patients one visitor, to the green level, which will allow for each adult patient to have two visitors per day during an inpatient stay. At this level, hospital waiting rooms are still closed. The following hospitals in our area will move to the green level starting on Wednesday, May 26:

Starting Tuesday at 9 a.m., the following hospitals will shift from Carilion’s highly-restricted red level down to just restricted visitation of its yellow level: Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital Carilion Rockbridge Community Hospital will continue operating at the red level remain until further notice. Yellow level allows most patients to have one adult visitor per day, something not allowed while hospitals were at red level.

At about 10:15 a.m., a 1990 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck was traveling west on Route 460, near Route 758, when it drove off the left side of the highway, went through the median and crossed the eastbound lanes. The pickup continued off the road before overturning. 64-year-old James E. Sanders, of Pembroke, was transported to Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg where he succumbed to his injuries later that same morning.
