Two people sentenced to prison terms for fleeing probation

COLLIN SPILINEK Fremont Tribune A Nickerson man and Fremont woman were both sentenced to two years in prison for absconding from their probations in the Dodge County District Court Monday. Tyler F. Vance, 38, and Alicia F. Utterback, 32, admitted to violating the conditions of their probations and were found guilty by Judge Geoffrey Hall. On April 4, 2019, Vance was sentenced to 30 months of intensive supervised probation for possession of a controlled substance charge. “He previously had absconded on probation and a motion to revoke had been filed on him,” Deputy Dodge County Attorney Emily Beamis said. “The defendant was once again given the privilege to remain on probation through an agreement between the defense and the state.”

Fremont teen pleads guilty to attempted delivery of meth

COLLIN SPILINEK Fremont Tribune A Fremont teen pleaded guilty on Monday to attempted delivery of methamphetamine in the Dodge County District Court. Alyssa M. Johnson, 19, previously pleaded not guilty, but withdrew the plea in court in order to apply to the Dodge County Adult Drug Court program as part of her plea deal. On March 11, 2020, an investigator with the Fremont Police Department’s III Corps Drug Task Force made contact with a confidential informant, who said they had arranged a drug buy with Johnson. “Investigators with the task force met up with the confidential informant at a predetermined location here in Dodge County, Nebraska,” Deputy Dodge County Attorney Emily Beamis said. “The confidential informant was searched, provided with documented currency and a wire.”

Fremont man sentenced to 30 months of probation for marijuana delivery

COLLIN SPILINEK Fremont Tribune A 20-year-old Fremont man was sentenced to 30 months of probation for possession of marijuana with intent to deliver in Dodge County District Court Monday. Marc A. Mendoza, who pleaded guilty to the charge on Jan. 4, was facing a three-to-five-year prison term recommendation from the state. “I think three to five is generous; I was looking at the bottom number being five,” Judge Geoffrey Hall told Mendoza. “That’s what I’m trying to impress upon you, is how serious a sentence you’re facing.” Mendoza was under investigation by the Fremont Police Department III Corps Drug Task Force, which had been conducting surveillance on him at his apartment.
