MOMENCE â Franklin Maloney, 77, of Momence, passed away Dec. 15, 2020, at Riverside Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, at Lax Mortuary, Kankakee. Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28, until the 11 a.m. funeral services at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Kenneth Carr officiating and Arch Bishop William Hudson III delivering the eulogy. Attendance to the funeral is limited. Burial will be in Momence Cemetery, Momence. Memorials may be made by way of donation to Garden of Prayer Youth Center online at gopyouthcenter.org. Funeral arrangements are by Lax Mortuary, Kankakee.

DETROIT – Tanya Eppinger and her family lived inside their home on Detroit’s east side for years, but recently everything changed.
“The smoke started coming outside. I was trying to get everyone out,” Eppinger recalled. “I have five kids in the house, and I was trying to get everyone out.”
Eppinger said in just minutes, fire and smoke filled the inside of her home. The cause of the fire was the dryer in the basement. Eppinger said the cost of repairs will add up to thousands.

ALTON Alton Mayor Brant Walker on Monday announced he will run for re-election.
“When I kicked off my campaign for mayor nearly eight years ago, I said, ‘Even with the challenges we face this is still a great city with great potential, a city whose best days I firmly believe lie ahead,” Walker said.
“I believed those words then and I believe them even more today,” he said.
Walker said that, during his administration, Alton has made great progress and become a “stronger, safer and more prosperous city. But that work is far from complete, he said.
