Berrien, Van Buren, Cass Health Departments Suspend Use Of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine

April 13, 2021 The Berrien County Health Department and the Van Buren/Cass District Health Department have suspended use of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. The Berrien County Health Department has released the following: Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have issued a joint recommendation to pause administration of the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen (J&J) vaccine. Per these recommendations, the Berrien County Health Department will not be providing the J&J vaccine until further notice. The previously planned J&J clinic on Thursday, April 15th will be switched to use the Moderna vaccine with a second dose return date of Thursday, May 13

UPDATE: 715,478 COVID-19 cases in MI, 16,327 deaths

Since March 10, when the first death was reported, 16,327 Michiganders have died from the acute respiratory illness. A Breakdown of COVID-19 Data The 24-hour data increase shows that 8,015 more people have contracted the virus. In addition, there were 30 new deaths. On Saturday, May 23 the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services also announced changes to how COVID-19 testing data is reported to make it more accurate and relevant as the state continues to expand diagnostic testing.
