WHAT S ON: Events to watch, road and park closures for Aussies 2021

The event will run from April 16-24. First to compete will be the U14 and U15 athletes. Saturdayâs beach events at Mooloolaba begin at 7am with the young athletes competing in 2km runs. Flags will start from 4.30pm. Competitors aged from 30 to 75 will also hit the water at Mooloolaba on Saturday with the masters open swim events starting from 8am. At Maroochydore on Saturday the action starts from 8.30am with board relays, surf teams and board rescues. Events will also be live streamed via Surf Life Saving Australia Facebook page. Alexandra Headland Surf Club general manager Ashley Robinson expected almost 10,000 people to visit the region as families, friends and officials join the plethora of competing athletes.

However, WBG couldn’t have conceived of the modern-day function of Parkes Way (an exemplary “parkway”), in moving masses of east-west traffic with the added advantage of enabling motorists and passengers to enjoy the lake and city environments; and so, the parkway and similar roadworks to the south of City Hill, have their own heritage values, definitely worthy of preservation.

(File picture) Traffic lights at key Brisbane intersections were without power as 13,000 properties were blacked out across the city s northside. Energex confirmed that about 4.30pm on Sunday more than 13,000 properties were without power. Earlier in the afternoon that figure was more than 20,000. Some of the worst-affected suburbs included Hamilton (3535), Ascot (3317) and Clayfield (2885). Police confirmed that traffic lights at several key intersections have been affected by the blackout. We have teams currently monitoring those areas affected by the blackout and we will assign resources to the intersections which require the greatest assistance, a spokeswoman said.
