Thursday’s announcement comes after at least 32 flights from India’s Delhi and two from Pakistan landed in Canada over the past two weeks with passengers who later tested positive for COVID-19. Additional measures are also coming to prevent passengers from India and Pakistan from accessing Canada via other countries.

The Brockville General Hospital has opened its doors to patients from across Eastern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area as part of a provincewide shuttle to ease the burden on overwhelmed hospitals in COVID-19 hotspots.
As of mid-week, BGH had received or was expecting 30 patients – some with COVID, some not – from hospitals in Cornwall, Kingston, Scarborough and Oshawa.

The patient tally includes 19 people battling the virus. Six are from Kingston Health Sciences, 10 from Scarborough Health Network and three from Lakeridge Health in Oshawa.

NEW DELHI India recorded the world’s highest daily tally of new COVID-19 infections on Thursday 314,835 cases with most hospitals full and running out of oxygen.
Health officials across northern and western India including the capital, New Delhi, said they were in crisis.
