Grampian Transport Museum in Alford has taken delivery of a hydrogen-powered bus, and will soon be able to teach audiences how the emerging technology works. A £19 million scheme to use the green vehicles in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire was launched in 2015.

Grampian Transport Museum launches crowdfunder for new outdoor space
© PRESS AND JOURNAL Grampian Transport Museum curator Mike Ward. A popular north-east museum has launched a crowdfunding bid so they can create an outdoor area for exhibitions. Grampian Transport Museum in Alford is home to an array of marvellous machines but the new lockdown rules mean it is closed. The latest acquisition for the attraction is a hydrogen bus which carried passengers throughout Aberdeen after its launch seven years ago. Aberdeen City Council donated the vehicle to the museum and they want to raise £10,000 so they can showcase it outside. © PRESS AND JOURNAL Grampian Transport Museum. They are aiming to also use the cash to add a new covered walkway and porch at the site.

North tourist hotspots plagued by visitors unrealistic expectations
© Sandy McCook/ DCT Media Sign up for our daily newsletter featuring the top stories from The Press and Journal. Thank you for signing up to The Press and Journal newsletter. Something went wrong - please try again later. Sign Up Tourist hotspots are being forced to contend with wild complaints from visitors – with one saying they would “rather be in hell” than on Balmedie Beach, and another slamming the lack of a Loch Ness marina. While many venues in the north receive praise from their customers, some are being plagued by irrelevant or unfairly low rankings online. And while these can have little impact on the venues with hundreds, if not thousands, of glowing reviews, others are suffering as their average scores are being pulled down.
