Jeddah: Deviating from decades-old tradition of rolling out a “Red Carpet” for heads of states visiting the Kingdom, Saudi Arabia chose “Lavender” to welcome Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince and de facto ruler of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces when he arrived in Jeddah on Wednesday.

The Office of the President (OP) made the statement after the two leaders had a phone conversation Wednesday evening.
In a statement, the OP said that Bin Salman, colloquially known as MBS, called President Duterte. During their phone conversation, they noted the warm and friendly ties between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan will embark on a three-day official visit to Saudi Arabia on Friday at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, the Foreign Ministry has said,

He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and other members of the Cabinet.
According to a statement on Thursday, consultations with the Saudi leadership will cover all areas of bilateral cooperation including economic, trade, investment, energy, job opportunities for Pakistani workforce, and welfare of Pakistani diaspora.

Ten Belarusians have filed a criminal complaint in Germany against President Alexander Lukashenko and his security apparatus, lawyers representing them said on Wednesday.
The four German lawyers allege that their clients were victims of crimes against humanity during the Belarusian government s crackdown on protests since August 2020.
They submitted the complaint on behalf of torture victims with Germany s Federal Public Prosecutor s Office in the southwestern city of Karlsruhe, home to the country s top courts.

Saudi Aramco’s profit soared in the first quarter following a recovery in global oil and gas markets, though free cash flow remained too low to fully cover dividend payments.
The world’s biggest energy company kept its quarterly payout, almost all of which goes to the Saudi Arabian government, at $18.75bn. The money is vital for the kingdom as it tries to narrow a budget deficit that ballooned last year, with the coronavirus pandemic sinking oil prices and shutting down local businesses.
The bumper results follow those last week of big oil rivals such as Royal Dutch Shell and BP, whose earnings are back to pre-pandemic levels as major economies reopen and more people are vaccinated. Brent crude has gained over 30 per cent this year to top $68 a barrel.
