The driver of a cement truck suffered only minor injuries after rolling it onto its side Wednesday. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office reports the accident occurred at approximately 11:23 a.m. on U Avenue near 185
th Street, north of Grand Junction. Twenty-seven-year-old Norman Taylor of Ames was northbound on U Avenue in a 2015 Mack cement truck when he lost control. He sideswiped a southbound 2013 Ford Edge, driven by 67-year-old Nancy Carhill of Jefferson, striking the driver’s side mirror. The Mack truck then rolled onto its side and slid onto the shoulder of the southbound lane. Taylor was transported to the Greene County Medical Center by Greene County Emergency Medical Services for treatment of his injuries. The Mack truck was totaled in the accident. The Ford Edge had an estimated $500 in damage. The accident remains under investigation. Grand Junction Fire and Rescue also assisted at the scene.
No injuries were reported following a grain bin explosion at the Landus Cooperative facility in Jefferson this (Friday) Morning. At approximately 8:05 a.m.
Greene County Sheriff, Jack Williams, has reported that a deputy, the Jefferson and Grand Junction Fire Departments and Greene County Emergency Medical Services responded to a barn fire Saturday in Jefferson. The call came in at approximately 10:43 a.m. on the fire in the 500 block of South Grimmell Road. Initial reports indicate a firefighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries while battling the blaze and that the barn is a total loss.

A teenager escaped injury in a single-vehicle rollover accident Wednesday south of Ralston. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Greene County Emergency Medical Services and Scranton Fire Department responded to the 1900 block of B Avenue at approximately 3:10 p.m. A 16-year-old male was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado when a rear tire brake locked up. He lost control of the truck and it rolled into the ditch. Damage to the Silverado is estimated at $10,000.
