Preyor-Johnson: Lawmaker offers a prayer that shines on all

Preyor-Johnson: Lawmaker offers a prayer that shines on all FacebookTwitterEmail As I reflect less on Easter fesitivies and more on faith, Rep. James Talarico’s prayer resonates.Tyler Sizemore /Hearst Connecticut Media Easter has always been a time of celebration in my family Mass, Easter egg hunts, barbecue and, yes, cascarones. As I get older, I try to reflect less on the festivities and more on the mystery of faith and what it means in my life. I was baptized and raised Catholic, and I am a member of a Christian church. I am not religious; some days I pray more than others, and I should read the Bible more. But I am faithful.

On Keep The Faith 4/4/2021

by Sydney Kaer // Apr 3, 2021 12:00 PM Tune in this weekend for some contagious encouragement with Keep The Faith. We guarantee you’ll feel uplifted. You can catch Keep The Faith on Sundays! It’s been said that “to err is human. To forgive is divine.” Forgiveness is an integral part of the Easter season, and it’s an integral part of finding love. Jackie Dorman is a matchmaker, relationship coach, and author. Finding love in 12 months sounds almost impossible, but she says it’s not – IF you’re willing to take the right steps, like forgiving those who’ve hurt you in the past.

Meditation: Minimum protection, maximum support

From noon on, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. And about three o’clock Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Matthew 27:44–46 Jesus asked a lot of questions during his relatively brief ministry on earth — 307 to be precise. Yet, THIS question … his LAST question in his earthly life, was different from all the others. It wasn’t meant to teach anything … it wasn’t offered for the benefit of those who are listening in. Rather, as Martin Copenhaver has written, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me” is an expression of isolation. It is raw and threatening, like an open wound. And, like Jesus hanging on the cross, it hangs in the air unanswered.”
