In an effort to alleviate their teachers’ workloads and minds, LISD and UISD have worked to find multiple ways to help their frontline workers.
At LISD, teachers rejoiced when they heard that their board of trustees will start a rotation schedule for all LISD employees, not just teachers. Each rotation will last three weeks, and teachers will not serve more than 10 students at a time.
The news came during a board meeting, where members of the Texas State Teacher Associations protested and demanded outside for the schedule changes. Moving forward through the next six weeks, the district will continue to adjust schedules for teachers, but the addition of a rotation schedule has already put many teachers already at ease.

Laredo College swore in the recently elected board members through a ceremony that was livestreamed to the community through Facebook on Wednesday.
The ceremonies started with the swearing in of Ernestina “Tita” Vela as the reelected Trustee for Place 9, followed by newly elected Karina “Kari” Elizondo and Jackie L. Ramos for Place 7 and Place 8, respectively. With remarks from the LC administration and fellow community members, each trustee took their oath of office gave their remarks.

According to a national report, undergraduate enrollment has seen a sharp decline across the country with data showing how different demographics have been affected.
The National Student Clearinghouse Research Center reported on Oct. 22 that community colleges showed a 9.5% drop in enrollment across the country during fall 2020. They also showed a drop in every student demographic but one.
