East Ninth St murder case now heads to the grand jury

Hopkinsville, KY, USA / WHOP 1230 AM | News Radio May 14, 2021 | 11:07 AM A preliminary hearing was held in Christian District Court Friday morning for Dalton Hall, one of the men accused in the shooting death of Delmour Moncrief at the East Ninth Street Valero gas station in April. Hopkinsville Police Detective Jonathan Sholar testified that he was unaware of any relationship between Hall, co-defendant David King and the victim in this case.  He says surveillance footage from the gas station shows Hall exit a vehicle in the parking lot and fire three shots from a handgun at Moncrief he and King then get back into the vehicle and flee the scene.

Two suspects involved in separate shootings were arraigned on assault charges Monday afternoon in Christian District Court sending both cases to preliminary hearings next week. The first case to appear involved Jaylynn Cheatham, 21, who is accused of being involved in a shooting at the Marathon gas station on East Ninth Street that left two people injured on Mar. 27. Cheatham was finally arrested after police had been searching for Cheatham on Friday afternoon. Cheatham appeared in court Monday afternoon with his defense attorney David Rye, who stated that he would be waiving formal reading of Cheatham’s arraignment and would be entering a not guilty plea on his behalf as he and Cheatham consider how to move forward in his case.

College St murder suspect arraigned in Christian District Court

As previously reported, Hopkinsville police responded to 1504 College Street a few minutes before 1 a.m. April 3 and found 33-year old Anthony Johnson of Waddell Circle with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported by EMS to Jennie Stuart Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead by Christian County Coroner Scott Daniel.
