Search the Scriptures: The source of comfort
McAnulty
Writing to the Corinthians, the apostle Paul offered this inspired benediction: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God (2 Corinthians 1:3-4; ESV).”
God is not just one source of comfort out of many. The Bible declares Him to be the God of all comfort, the originator of comfort and the ultimate source from which comfort flows to the afflicted.
Recently, I had a woman write to me seeking prayer for healing for both herself and her sister. It quickly became apparent that she had no idea how the process of healing works in the Bible. Instead, she was following dangerous doctrines that will never lead to healing.
A dangerous doctrine
Her pastor had told her she had to “Speak your healing into existence!”
Nowhere in scripture does such a practice occur. Never did a sick person have to speak their own healing into existence. This is a false and dangerous doctrine.
It places all responsibility onto the sick person. If they follow this doctrine and are not healed, then the pastor can simply brush it off saying they don’t have enough faith.

“Well, madam I am sorry to tell you this but your husband has just had an accident and he is dead.” “What?” Rose, stammered through the rest of the conversation as the anonymous caller narrated what he saw at the accident scene.

Satan was questioning each demon, and he asked each one how he would deceive people. The first one answered that he would tell people that there was no God. Satan answered,
“You won’t deceive many because most people down deep inside of them do believe God exists even if they have not chosen to follow Him.”
The second demon said he would tell people that heaven and hell didn’t really exist. Satan said,
