New music based on a famous Ayrshire mining story to be released

The music from Seán Gray (above) is inspired by the poem of the same name written by Scots poet Rab Wilson NEW music based on a famous Ayrshire mining story is being released next month. The Great Stariski documents the fascinating tale of Johnny Stariski (left), a miner with Polish origins, who toiled at the Barony Colliery for much of his working life. The music from Seán Gray (below) is inspired by the poem of the same name written by Scots poet Rab Wilson, who shares the musician’s passion for Ayrshire’s mining history and, in fact, worked alongside Stariski in the mine in the 70s and early 80s.

Media release: Enjoy a virtual Hogmanay concert with some of Scotland’s top young musicians THE TMSA Young Trad Tour came together to record an one-off live performance of their highly-acclaimed studio album recorded earlier this year in March. The video, featuring seven of Scotland’s best young musicians, will debut online at 6pm on 31 December. Their live performance of the album was filmed in late September, in-line with Covid-19 guidelines at the time, at Adelaide’s Church in Glasgow. The current TMSA Young Trad Tour group comprises of Benedict Morris, fiddle (Glasgow), winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year Competition, joined by finalists:
