Klamath Falls Restaurant Fined Over COVID Safety
A Klamath Falls restaurant has been fined more than $27,000 for violating COVID safety protocol. According to OSHA, “Casey’s Restaurant continues to fall far short of workplace safety standards designed to protect employees from the coronavirus disease, as more complaints and a public health referral have prompted another formal enforcement action by Oregon OSHA.”
The division cited the restaurant $27,660 following an inspection that found the employer committed four violations of on-the-job safety standards. In one of the infractions, Casey’s Restaurant willfully continued to potentially expose workers to the virus, despite a public health order limiting the capacity of indoor dining to zero in an “extreme risk” county. It is the second time the business has been cited for failing to take steps to protect workers against the pandemic. KLAMATH FALLS, Ore Saturday marked the first of three days in which outdoor burning in Klamath County will not be allowed. That s according to Klamath County Public Health and multiple local fire agencies.
This weekend, dry conditions related to the drought, low humidity and active wind gusts will make burning very dangerous, according to fire officials, over the next three days.
Along with the fire weather conditions, Klamath County has been in a drought emergencies since March 31, when Governor Kate Brown declared a drought emergency for the county.

KLAMATH COUNTY, Ore. The annual air quality zone spring open burn window started Saturday morning in Klamath County.
Residents within the air quality zone are allowed to burn yard waste with the window shutting Sunday, April 25.
Governor Kate Brown declared a drought emergency in Klamath County on March 31 with recent lack of rain in the area.
Residents are urged to use caution when burning, but it’s not only a fire danger posing a threat, people’s lungs and overall health are at risk.
“Our lungs are sensitive mechanisms and when we expose them to smoke, whether it’s cigarette smoke or yard debris smoke, that can cause some inflammation within our lungs,” Klamath County Public Health Public Information Officer, Valeree Lane, said.
