The 18-year-old driver in a crash Monday that killed three teenagers and injured two others was charged with manslaughter and driving under the influence of intoxicants, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday morning.

Devin Kurtz, 18, of Estacada, was arrested after a crash on Springwater Road killed three people. The driver in a fatal Memorial Day crash that killed three teenagers and injured another two has been arrested.
On Tuesday, June 1, 18 year old Estacada resident Devin Kurtz was booked in the Clackamas County Jail on three counts of second degree manslaughter, DUII, reckless endangering, reckless driving, third degree assault DUII and second degree criminal mischief. He had previously been in the hospital for treatment of a punctured lung.
Bail was set at $780,000.

A Portland man is facing a slew of criminal charges, including attempted murder of an officer,
after authorities say he led deputies on a car chase and shootout through Clackamas County earlier this month, then shot at an Oregon City officer, shattering his car window and injuring his eye.
Gerald Barnes II, 48, is facing three counts of attempted aggravated murder, two of first-degree attempted assault and one each of first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and attempt to elude.
He is in the Clackamas County Jail and his bail is set at $1 million.

An Oregon City police officer suffered a serious eye injury likely from gunfire by the suspect during a chase and shootout Saturday on Oregon 213, according to the police chief.
Investigators believe Officer Chris Brosseau was injured when Gerald Leroy Barnes II fired on police, said Chief Jim Band.
Brosseau, who has worked for the agency for 31/2 years, was placing spike strips to help Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies stop Barnes when he was injured.

Oregon City Officer Chris Brosseau may lose vision in one eye, due to a fleeing suspect s gunfire on May 8, OCPD Capt. Shaun Davis said.
Brosseau, an OCPD officer for more than three years, underwent surgery to remove a metal object from his eye and was released from the hospital the following morning. Davis said that Brosseau is receiving excellent medical care from eye specialists who hope to restore his vision as he recovers from home.
Police say that the driver of the suspect vehicle, Gerald Leroy Barnes II, discharged a firearm multiple times at law enforcement officers, as Brosseau was setting up spike strips on Highway 213 just south of Redland Road. According to OCPD, forensic investigation on the piece of metal removed from Brosseau s eye is working to confirm whether the material was a piece of shattered bullet shot by Barnes.
