OCC Student Stephanie Blake Awarded PTK Scholarship

Apr 14, 2021 Olney Central College student Stephanie Blake is the recipient of a $1,000 Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship from Eastern Illinois University. “I was very surprised,” Blake said of her selection. “It is a very competitive scholarship and I was very excited to receive it.” The scholarship is awarded to students transferring from a community college with an associate’s degree and a GPA of 3.75 or higher. Applicants also must demonstrate leadership skills and submit two letters of recommendation. While attending OCC, Blake has served as both PTK President and Student Senate Vice President. PTK Advisor Amie Mayhall, along with Instructor John Kendall recommended Blake for the award.

She is a Jacksonville native and a 1983 graduate of Eastern Illinois University. Wood started working with Jacksonville Savings Bank in 1984 and moved to its lending department two years later. “We look forward to the wealth of experience Susan brings to our South Jacksonville branch and our bank family as a whole,” First National Bank President Kai Schnitker said. The bank’s board of directors also made several promotions: Cory Winters, who has been with the bank’s management team since July 2018, will be branch manager in charge of teller supervision and customer service operations at both the South Main and Massey-Morton branches in Jacksonville; and Barb Davenport was promoted to assistant cashier/teller.
