Kirby Rodgers donates his time to a Rotary project honoring veterans

Lincoln Courier When Kirby Rodgers first heard of the idea to pay tribute to veterans through a banner program he was intrigued and wanted to know more. Rodgers has undertaken the tireless job of a Rotary project that is found on the banners in downtown Lincoln highlighting Logan County veterans. For his effort he has been named The Courier Citizen of the Month. Rodgers grew up in Charleston and would later get his undergraduate and master degrees from Eastern Illinois University in 1973 and 1979. He would later attend Western Illinois University were he earned an Doctor of Education degree. His first job was teaching 7th grade geography in Sterling where he also served as the wrestling, girls tennis and track coach. His career then took him to Dixon, Illinois where he was first a high school assistant principal and would later accept the elementary school principal.
