Tributes for Great Harwood pub landlady and hospice volunteer

Kathleen Monk Tributes have been paid to Kathleen Monk of Great Harwood, who died on January 23 at the age of 72. Kathleen, who was known as ‘Kath’ and sometimes ‘Kate’ to her family and friends, was a devoted and loving wife to the late Keith and a beloved mum to Warren, the late David, the late Christopher and the late Andrew. She was the cherished grandma of Joel, Jake, Natellie, Josh and Lucas. She was also the dear sister of Robert, Steven, Suzanne and the late Peter, and an auntie, cousin and friend to many. Kath was born in Oswaldtwistle and moved to Clayton-le-Moor as a teenager.

MEMBERS of a foundation set up in memory of an inspirational man who died aged 24 are continuing to carry out community work despite the coronavirus lockdown. Anna Haggart, from Livesey, and her sister Gill Garvin started the Shaun Haggart Foundation nearly a decade ago in memory of Anna’s son Shaun who died in 2010. Shaun, who died while undergoing a 53rd operation on chronic heart and bowel problems was described as an ‘inspirational’ community worker. Anna, 52, who works as a cook in a rehabilitation unit, wanted to keep her son s memory alive, so set up the foundation to help the community.
