New Mayor of Skegness can t wait to put on chain and get out there

Mayor of Skegness Coun Trevor Burnham with the Mayoress, Jane. Coun Trevor Burnham was invested during last week s annual Town Council meeting. Because of Covid-19 restrictions the meeting was held on zoom, without the usual ceremony associated with the occasion. There was no official handover or speeches and special meal afterwards with invited guests. Deputy Mayor - Coun Billy Brookes Presentations were deferred until they are able to meet in person. The chain of office, which had been delivered to his home earlier, was put around Coun Burnham s neck by his wife, the new Mayoress Jane Burnham. Coun Burnham returned the honour for his Mayoress.

Horncastle will benefit from high street task force support

EMN-210430-104838001 The Task Force, an alliance of place-making experts who are working to redefine the high street, requested that East Lindsey District Council nominate a specific local high street to receive their professional focus in order to create the best vision and strategy for the area. Having worked closely with stakeholders in the district’s market towns through their Vital and Viable programme, the district council has put forward Horncastle to receive the task force support. This will help to boost the town’s Vital and Viable action plan with long-term, legacy projects and provide professional guidance to local groups who are already working to help develop the town further.

Operation California was launched in Skegness as part of Lincolnshire Police’s aim to prevent violence, anti-social behaviour and to tackle drugs. Officers and staff from other agencies including East Lindsey District Council carried out searches at bars on the Lincolnshire coast on April 30. They were supported by a drugs detection dog from the RAF Police, which led to the arrest of a man. He was arrested after cannabis was found in his car and he has since been released under investigation.
