FIR filed against BJP candidate in Assam for threatening to kill Congress worker ANI | Updated: Apr 03, 2021 23:43 IST Kamrup (Assam) [India], April 3 (ANI): An FIR was filed against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Kamalpur assembly constituency Diganta Kalita on Friday for allegedly threatening to kill a Congress worker for not supporting him in the Assembly elections. According to the FIR, Kamalpur BJP candidate Diganta Kalita allegedly threatened Congress worker Parsha Jyoti Kalita for supporting the party s candidate Kishore Bhattacharyya in the Assam assembly polls. Parsha is the son of the late Congress MLA Uttara Kalita. The FIR stated that Diganta Kalita threatened Parsha over the phone that he would kill him and his family. When Parsha and his family members were leaving their residence after the phone call, Diganta and others followed them with blunt weapons.

Filing of Nominations for phase-II of the Assam Assembly election end

STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI: The filing of nominations for the second phase of Assam Assembly election to be held on April 1 ended on Friday. While the scrutiny of the nomination papers of this phase of the poll is on March 15, the last date for withdrawal of nominations is March 17. The phase-II has 39 LACs (Legislative Assembly Constituencies) spreading in 13 districts – Karimganj, Hailakandi, Cachar, Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong, Kamrup, Nalbari, Udalguri, Darrang, Morigaon, Nagaon and Hojai. The prominent BJP candidates who filed their nomination papers on Friday are – Pijush Hazarika from Jagiroad, Ramkrishna Ghosh from Hojai and Madhuram Deka from Kalaigaon.
