A Chatham-Kent councillor hopes the recent approval of his motion, along with collaboration with the local conservation authority, will help protect the lives of wildlife on the road.
Anthony Ceccacci entered the successful motion on April 26, asking that staff develop an annual campaign starting this year to increase public messaging and promote awareness, education and opportunities to mitigate the animal casualties.

A strong wind warning is in effect for western Lake Erie, bringing with it a chance of flooding in some areas, says the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority.
Winds across the region are currently light and from the southwest. However, forecasts predict that winds will rise throughout the day and that sustained speeds above 35 km/h will be reached Saturday evening.

Peak sustained speeds this evening or overnight could range from 35 to 45 km/h. While most forecasts are predicting winds will drop off by early Sunday, some forecasts suggest that sustained speeds might remain above 30 km/h throughout that morning.
LONDON, ONT Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) issues flood watch for Lake Erie Shoreline, Saturday morning. A strong wind warning is also in effect for Western Lake Erie. LTVCA says forcasted winds will rise throughout the day and that sustained wind speeds above 35 km/hr will be reached this evening. Peak sustained wind speeds this evening or overnight could range from 35 to 45 km/hr. LTVCA said that strong southwest winds are to be expected this evening lasting through Sunday morning. There is a risk of shoreline damage and erosion along the shoreline including the high bluffs with a risk of flooding along Lake Erie shore drive.
