WASHINGTON (AP) US President-elect Joe Biden has selected Merrick Garland, a federal appeals court judge who in 2016 was snubbed by Republicans for a seat on the Supreme Court, as his attorney general, two people familiar with the selection process said Wednesday.
Biden is expected to announce Garland’s appointment on Thursday, along with other senior leaders of the department, including former homeland security adviser Lisa Monaco as deputy attorney general and former Justice Department civil rights chief Vanita Gupta as associate attorney general.

President Donald Trump cost the Republican Party dearly during his time in office, culminating in Democrats sweeping the Georgia runoffs to regain control of the Senate.
For the first time since 2008, Democrats control both chambers of Congress along with the White House. Trump f ed the party, a paid Trump adviser told a Bloomberg reporter. He f ed the party with his conspiracy theories and pushing females and independents away from the party. The bleeding needs to stop. He needs to go.
Depsite all of the recommendations of an RNC autopsy following the 2012 election, Trump did the exact opposite during his time in office and left the GOP at square one.
