House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday rejected GOP claims Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters was inciting violence when she said in Minnesota over the weekend that protesters need to get more confrontational.
House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy said over the weekend he would be forced to take action against her if Pelosi failed to punish Waters herself. Maxine Waters is inciting violence in Minneapolis just as she has incited it in the past, McCarthy said in a tweet late Sunday evening. If Speaker Pelosi doesn’t act against this dangerous rhetoric, I will bring action this week.

GOP Leaders Say Joe Biden Is Aiding Drug Cartels
16 Apr 2021
The nation’s epidemic of drug deaths is being worsened by President Joe Biden’s refusal to guard the border, Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) told reporters on Thursday.
“The amount of fentanyl seized this year increased by an alarming rate of 233 percent from the same period last year,” McCarthy said at the April 15 press conference, adding:
When I was at Monument Three, in El Paso, looking just down the fencing there, the [border] agents told us that they’ve never seen so much fentanyl as they have during the last month. Now fentanyl is considered to be 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine and if altered, becomes even deadlier.

Associated Press 1 hr ago By ADAM BEAM, Associated Press
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) California employers added 119,600 new jobs in March, the second straight month of growth following a topsy-turvy year of enormous losses and inconsistent gains during an unpredictable pandemic.
New unemployment claims, both for traditional employees and independent contractors, are at their lowest levels since the pandemic began more than a year ago.
Restaurants and hotels, which have weathered heavy losses during a year of stay-at-home orders, accounted for more than half of the 260,600 jobs added in the state since February. Experts said Friday that s a sign the world s fifth largest economy is exiting the pandemic-induced recession and entering what s likely to be a prolonged recovery.
