Sometime within the next week, Illinois Democrats are expected to take the wraps off a state legislative redistricting proposal that will press their numeric advantage in the General Assembly, followed at some point by a Congressional remap that will do likewise.
And I say: Go for it!
This obviously is not the good government position I have long embraced along with other do-gooder types who have yearned for a bipartisan independent mapmaking commission that would take the redistricting process out of the hands of lawmakers.

C. - The CEO of an Ohio company that makes gas compressors and her husband gave almost $1.3 million to political action committees run by a scammer who was sentenced to serve three years in prison for misusing money he collected from deep-pocketed Republican donors to fund his own lifestyle.
Harold Russell Taub a 32-year-old former Rhode Island congressional candidate pleaded guilty to wire fraud and election law violations in 2019 after prosecutors said he misused about $1 million of the $1.6 million he raised for two Super PACs he founded called Keeping America in Republican Control and Keeping Ohio in Republican Control. Federal prison records indicate Taub is scheduled for release next February..

COLUMBUS – The Ohio Republican Party s leaders called on Rep. Anthony Gonzalez to resign for voting to impeach former President Donald Trump, a stunning rebuke of one of their own.
On Friday, the party s governing board called on Gonzalez, R-Rocky River, to resign in a divided vote. They also voted to censure Gonzalez and nine other members of Congress for their votes to support the unconstitutional, politically motivated impeachment proceeding against President Donald J. Trump, according to the resolution.
Gonzalez was one of 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for inciting the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, which left five people dead. He is the third to be censured for the vote by his state party, following Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney and South Carolina Rep. Tom Rice.
