Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines Peter MacArthur on Tuesday alerted eligible Filipino caregivers on the launching of Canada’s ambitious plan to accelerate caregiver application processing and reunite them with their immediate family members.
“For immediate attention of certain Filipinos who are caregivers,” the Canadian diplomat said in a tweet referring to the plan of Canada’s immigration department to finalize 6,000 caregiver applications for permanent residence by December 31, 2021.
In an announcement last week, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) said it will finalize the applications for caregivers who have completed their in-Canada work experience, as well as their immediate family members.

Stranger than fiction
Re The Secret Bondfield Files (April 16): I thought this must be fiction or the latest movie. It seemed too absurd to be real.
Fortunately this investigation does not impugn the quality of health care at St. Michael’s Hospital, but it sure does call into question its administrative oversight of such a major construction project. Essential workers, international graduates, and other immigration candidates currently living in Canada now have the ability to book their language tests again.
Those looking to apply for an economic class immigration program in Canada need to take a General test provided by either IELTS or CELPIP.
Both IELTS and CELPIP saw their websites crash on April 15 after Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino announced Canada would enable some 90,000 essential workers, international graduates, and francophones in Canada to apply for permanent residence through six new limited-time immigration programs. The programs launch on May 6 and close on November 5, or when application caps for the programs are reached.
