Damen Shipyards Group has secured a contract for the supply of three Azimuth Stern Drive (ASD) Tugs 3212 from Australian port operations provider Engage Marine.

This comes after Engage Marine recently received a non-exclusive towage licence from North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation.
Damen awarded contract by Engage Marine for three ASD Tugs 3212
Damen Shipyards Group has been awarded a contract by Australia-based Engage Marine for the delivery of three ASD Tug 3212. The tug is one of Damen’s Next Generations Tugs Series. The vessels in the series combine proven technologies with cutting edge innovation to take an evolutionary step forwards in terms of safety, sustainability, reliability and efficiency.
Engage Marine will operate the three tugs to provide towage services for the Port of Abbot Point. The company has recently been awarded a Non-Exclusive Towage Licence by North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation.
The ASD Tug 3212 will bring to the contract excellent seakeeping behaviour, superb manoeuvrability and outstanding towing characteristics – with 85 tonnes bollard pull.

According to Damen, its ASD Tug 3212 will bring to the contract excellent seakeeping behavior, superb maneuverability and outstanding towing characteristics – with 85 tonnes bollard pull.
As a vessel from Damen’s standardized portfolio, the shipbuilder constructs the ASD Tug 3212 for stock in order to facilitate rapid delivery. As a result, Damen will deliver the three tugs to Engage Marine in the third quarter of this year.

The Port of Mackay, Queensland, Australia, is making nice progress on the $17 million infrastructure package that will attract new trade at the port.
The $17 million package, which was approved by the State Government through North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation, includes multiple projects.
One of the projects is a $2.4 million extension to Wharf One, with construction now passing the half-way mark, according to NQBP.
“Work is continuing come rain or shine by contractors Davbridge Constructions. The breakwater slope has been reprofiled, foundation columns and headstocks are in, and the installation of 27 deck units is underway,” said NQBP.
