Picture used for representational purpose only BENGALURU: A 20-year-old BSc nursing student from Bengaluru has been booked by Chikkamagaluru police on charges of marrying a 17-year-old whom she met on Facebook. Police said the boy, from a village in Chikkamagaluru, had claimed to be 21 and the woman married him at a temple on June 16, in the presence of his relatives. They have been booked as well under the Child Marriage Restraint Act and the couple is living separately, Chikkamagaluru SP Hakay Akshay Machhindra said. The woman, who is studying in Madikeri, married the youth despite opposition from her family, police said.
