Mr Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India said that the role of the private sector has increased in Indian defence manufacturing over the years. Today s India is working to further increase its capacity and capability in the sector. The 21st century defence sector cannot stand without private sector partnership, he added. Addressing the virtual session Budget Announcements: 2021-22, Galvanizing Efforts for Aatmanirbhar Bharat , organized by the Ministry of Defence, jointly with FICCI and other industry chambers, Mr Modi said that to promote the Indian private sector, the government is giving more impetus on Ease of Doing Business. We have taken a number of measures, including delicensing, deregulation, export promotion, foreign investment liberalization, in the defence sector. We are working ahead and focusing on transparency, predictability and ease of doing business, he added.
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi s acknowledgment of the role of Indian industry and business. Expressing his appreciation over the PM s statement, Uday Shankar, President, FICCI said that at a time that the COVID-hit Indian industry is trying to pick up its rhythm of high growth, Prime Minister s acknowledgment would be a much-needed shot in the arm for entrepreneurs and the business community.

Karnataka Agriculture Minister B C Patil said on Wednesday the Government would soon unveil a policy framework on agri start-ups and operational guidelines. Patil said agri start-ups can provide missing links in the agricultural value chain and deliver efficient, innovative products, technologies and services to farmers and consumers. Addressing a virtual session ofFICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) summit and awards for agri start-ups,he said the food and agriculture practices and enterprises in India are poised for transformational changes in line with the new government policies. Agriculture has been rapidly evolving into agri business in terms of approach and structure, he was quoted as saying in a FICCI statement.
This Budget mark a clear directional change for the Indian economy and that directional change is not what the government has offered as a sudden response, but it was something that was preoccupying the Indian minds for over 30 years, said Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs Nirmala Sitharaman while addressing the FICCI s National Executive Committee Meeting.
Sitharaman said that this budget is trying to raise resources which are non-tax resources at a time when we need a lot of money to spend. It s a budget which raises resources but not on the back of increased taxation. There is a directional change in the budget which is so distinct that it will fuel the entrepreneurial spirit which the Indians show given the right opportunities, she added.
