The coronavirus vaccine is now available to all people 16 and older, regardless of medical history and occupation.
With a large percentage of the population of all local counties still not vaccinated, there are plenty of options for those who want one.
The Texas Department of State Health Services reported that as of Wednesday, 20.5% of the population of Bell County aged 16 and older, 15.8% of the population of Coryell County and 23% of the population of Lampasas County had received at least one dose of the vaccine.

On Monday, everyone 16 and older in the state became eligible to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
From public health departments to health systems to local pharmacies to chains such as Walgreens and Walmart, there are hundreds of options to choose from in the state, but that doesn’t mean finding an appointment will be easy. With limited vaccine supply and therefore appointments, health officials say it will take persistence and perhaps a bit of luck.
“It’s kind of like a lottery type thing,” said Rick Conner, the director of operations for the dozens of Hometown Pharmacies in Wisconsin. “I’ve had people tear up. I’ve seen over the phone, excitement, joy, like they almost dropped their phone.”

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will begin participating in virus sequencing of positive on-campus COVID-19 saliva samples to track the spread of potential COVID-19 variants.
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services requested the genomic sequencing to analyze the structure of the virus to discern mutations of COVID-19, which will be done through the Nebraska Public Health Laboratory, according to an update to Nebraska Todayâs COVID-19 Digest page on March 28.
